I’ve been a fan of the Wordpress MultiUser platform (aka WPMU – a blog platform where you can setup more than one blog on the same domain) and Buddypress (a way to add social networking to your Wordpress blog) since I heard about them almost a year ago.

I have also thought about using the wp.mu service to install Wordpress MU but have hesitated because you need to sign up with a hosting account through them. (and I have my own reseller account through Hostgator)

I am also hesitant because I have heard Wordpress MU can be difficult to run without a programmer/web guy to configure and administer it.

It is a great service though! It is basically a business in a box and the platform, and the associated plugins and themes, can make money in a variety of simple ways.So in the end, I am here I am with no Wordpress MU blog site… but that could change soon… if I win this prize and take the leap into setting up this great blog platform.

This post is actually to enter a contest enter a contest wpmu.org (a sister site to wp.mu)  is doing for a year-long subscription to their Premium Plugin and Theme site. http://premium.wpmudev.org/

The contest is also celebrating their creation of 100 plugins.

Congrats guys! I know how hard it is to stay consistent with projects, so a 100 of anything (especially complicated plugins) is quite special.

One of WPMU Dev’s newest plugins is the most exciting to me.

The membership plugin is something I could use very well! Plus all the other AMAZING and comprehensive plugins and themes that are available to support it.

One of the services I plan to offer my clients is the creation of a membership sites centred around their valuable information. Plus, I plan on creating one very soon to organize my business.

I have also had a few ideas of creating a really positive sites centred around users communicating on how they are making the world a better place.

As well as private and protected blog and social networks for various organizations I work with.

So If I win this prize of the wicked plugins and themes, I will be taking the plunge and starting my own wordpress multi-site blog!

I think with the support from the community, I will be able to handle any problems that come up during installation and maintenance. And if all goes well, I will be able to afford the programmer/web guy to keep it going for me!

Thanks and wish me luck in the contest guys!

If everyone was an Entrepreneur…

This is a concept I’ve thought about a lot.

The reason my url is AnthonyMyersINC.com is because I like to think of myself as a walking, talking, breathing corporation, (I’m not actually incorporated btw) an organization that sees problems, issues, or opportunities and takes action on them in a mutually-beneficial way for all parties involved.

I believe everyone has something unique they have to give to the world and in some cases they need to be in charge (not working for someone else) in order to fulfill that purpose.

This is a video I found with someone talking about this very subject.

Leonard Schlesinger, President of Babson College, answers the question “What if we were all entrepreneurs?”

Let me know what you think in the comments section!

Freshbooks plus Free Stuff equals Awesome

Freshbooks gave me some free stuff and I really appreciated it!

So I made this short video on what we can learn from the initiative.

You can see what Freshbooks is all about by clicking here.

Hope you like the video!

And about the “Make love you to you” comment at the end… Here is an old blog post I wrote on the subject.

It was an amazing experience!

It was really nice to just unplug from the world and be totally taken care of food and shelter wise.

Simple things like not knowing what the weather was going to be like, and waking up to fresh snowfall. Or not hearing the noise of cars revving, except for the one truck that helped with chores. And especially, not hearing the voices of myself and others and being able to connect with myself and other people on a deeper level… or not connect and see how that felt as well.

A lot of people have told me they couldn’t do it and how it must be hard, but it really wasn’t. I admit, I didn’t have too many doubts about being able to stay silent for a while, because I used to be pretty shy and not talk too much growing up. By the end of it I forgot I was in silence! It became normal to have a clear mind and not use the vocal chords for communication. A few hand gestures and notes were used when we needed to work together for chores, but nothing more than needed.

The main point of the silence course is to get in touch with the real YOU, without the thoughts and anxieties that plague us on a daily basis. That definitely happened in those few days in Central Quebec.

Doing yoga everyday was amazing as well. It has finally convinced me I need to make physical yoga a consistent part of my weekly routine… You just feel so good afterward!

All in all:

It really de-stressed my body and mind. I see myself as a pretty easy going and relaxed guy, but my body and mind sometimes don’t agree with me. I’ve been dealing with back pain and tension for a few years now. (e.g. This blog post on Esther Ghokale’s back pain relief book) After about a week of stretching and meditating, I’ve lost a lot of tension, have a clearer mind, and am more flexible than I’ve ever been!

Now I just need to maintain these feelings!

Back to Business:

The time off gave me a lot of chances to reflect on where I want to take my life and career going forward. (Although I didn’t dwell on these plans too much, because the course talked a lot about staying in the moment)

Now it is time to create a cohesive and comprehensive plan, and get to work fulfilling it.

I’ve got a new ebook/guide coming out in the next few weeks, which will explain how internet marketing tools and strategies can really help you work less and have a lot more fun with your business/organization!

With just one really simple thing!

Questions:

If you have any… Please drop me a line, or write a comment. I encourage absolutely everyone to try this silence thing out! You will surprise yourself!

Thanks for coming to my blog!

Just letting you know I will not be able to update my blog until January 7 because I will be on a silent retreat near Montreal, Quebec, Canada.

The retreat is run by the Art of Living and I will be doing a lot of meditation and breathing exercises in order to get to know myself better and start the New Year off with a clear and peaceful mind.

I haven’t done anything like this before so I’m really excited about the event and the effects it will have on my well-being and personal productivity.

I’ve got some massive plans for the new year, and I will need every advantage I can to get it all done!

I’m going to be silent for six days but I will loud when I get back! ;)

I hope you guys are also thinking of some great New Years Resolutions or ideas for you to have the best year of your life!

Have an awesome day and beginning of a new decade where absolutely anything is possible!

Anthony
